As the main function of the Cellular Modem is to dial-up, send/receive messages, and perform these functions in response to external commands; while Cellular IP Modem is capable of dialing-up and sending/receiving messages automatically, its main purpose is to achieve serial data to Ethernet and serial data to SMS functionality. A Cellular IP Modem has the same functions as a Cellular modem.
