Mengxi Power Encryption Solution and Implementation
Project Background
Mengxi Power Grid is managed by Inner Mongolia Electric Power (Group) Co., Ltd., the only independent provincial power grid company in China, operating alongside State Grid and Southern Grid. It covers eight leagues and cities in the central and western regions of Inner Mongolia, including Hohhot, Baotou, and Ordos. Due to its unique nature, Mengxi Power Grid requires a distinct security access encryption method, different from those used by State Grid and Southern Grid. Alotcer, with its deep expertise in power communication products and applications, has developed products and technologies that meet Mengxi Power Grid’s encryption requirements. Additionally, our power communication product line also covers encryption for State Grid distribution, Nari Security Chip NRSEC3000, SSL certificate encryption, and TF card encryption.
System Composition and Topology
Alotcer’s distribution automation system for Mengxi Power Grid employs an advanced hierarchical distributed architecture, consisting of four main components: DTU/FTU distribution terminals, power station SCADA system, master station encryption gateway, and Alotcer industrial-grade 5G/4G & Mengxi encryption wireless modules.
  • DTU/FTU Distribution Terminals: These are responsible for data collection and control of lines and switches, outputting through IEC101/104 protocol standards.
  • Power Station SCADA System: This system interacts with on-site DTU/FTU devices via IEC101/104 protocols to collect relevant data and control line switches, achieving the three-remote functions.
  • Master Station Encryption Gateway: This component is tasked with encrypting and decrypting IEC101/104 messages transmitted between DTU/FTU devices and the master station, ensuring secure access.
  • Alotcer Industrial-Grade 5G/4G & Mengxi Encryption Wireless Modules: These modules encrypt plain text from distribution terminals and transmit it to the master station, while decrypting ciphertext from the master station and forwarding it to the distribution terminals, thus enabling bidirectional transmission and encryption/decryption functions.
Project Construction Site
During the project implementation, the Alotcer team strictly adhered to the project plan and schedule. From system design, equipment selection, installation and commissioning to joint debugging tests, every step was meticulously planned and strictly controlled. Particularly during the installation and commissioning phase, the Alotcer team overcame difficulties posed by the complex on-site environment, ensuring the smooth implementation and timely delivery of the project.
Project Benefits
By introducing Alotcer’s distribution automation system, the project’s level of intelligence has been significantly enhanced. The system has achieved real-time monitoring of the distribution network, rapid fault location and isolation, greatly reducing fault handling time and improving power supply reliability. Moreover, the system provides rich data analysis and reporting functions, offering strong support for power grid operation and maintenance management.
